Sound healing

Traditional Sound Healing, as practiced for centuries in the Himalayas, is a vibrational practice using singing bowls to guide the body and mind into a state of deep harmony.“Sound Healing” is a quite over-used term today. We hear about frequencies that heal, about resonance, about the famous 432hz, and so on. But there is “sound healing” and actual sound healing.
There are thousands of types of bowls present on the market, but only a few are suitable for a proper Sound Healing, as originally performed in the Himalayas.
Because every single part of our body vibrates at its own frequency, having the proper tool to match them is a key element for an efficient session.
A traditional singing bowl is made out of seven metals–lead, tin, iron, copper, zinc, silver and gold–matching our internal frequencies. Each bowl emits a precise sound wave that moves through the whole inner landscape, passing through the water of the body and reaching the tissues and system. The sound, therefore, releases physical tension and restores balance to the energetic centers (chakras), while allowing energy (prana) to flow freely through the body’s channels (nadis).
From a scientific approach, these sound frequencies help fine-tune the nervous system. Using Cymatics –the science of making sound visible– we can see how singing bowls re-create natural patterns inside of the body (cf. “Cymatics: the Study of Wave Phenomena and Vibration”, Hans Jenny 1967). The vibrations activate our lymphatic and endocrine glands, supporting the immune system and hormonal balance. Additionally, the mesmerizing tones encourage the brain to shift into alpha and theta states, the same states associated with meditation, rest, and regeneration. This allows the body and mind to slow down, repair itself, and let go of accumulated stress.

(here sand, the patterns are the same with water but moving)

From a spiritual perspective, Sound Healing opens a subtle space where one can reconnect with their essential self. The vibrations act like an energetic cleansing, dissolving emotional blockages, reactivating the flow of prana, and restoring coherence between the heart, the mind, and the breath. It is a return to a more aligned, quiet, and authentic frequency within.A Sound Healing session becomes a moment outside of time: you lie down, breathe, and let the bowls do their work. The body softens, the mind settles, and your energy naturally re-orients itself.

Benefits of a Sound Healing:

  • Promotes deep relaxation

  • Reduces anxiety & depression

  • Improves sleep quality & mental clarity

  • Helps releasing emotions

  • Supports health restoration & physical ease

  • Enhances meditation practice

  • Balances, cleanses & aligns energy centers & channels

Sound Meditations

Born from the meeting of the Himalayan singing bowl tradition and the science of binaural frequencies, this form of sound meditation was discovered and taught to me in Nepal by my master Gerrit Nitsche. The practice guides the mind into an altered space of consciousness that, while usually only reachable in advanced meditation, is accessible to anyone that is willing to lie down, breathe, and receive.Sound Meditation needs to be differentiated from Sound Healing, Journey, or Nap. It is a beautiful tool if you are used to meditating, and a powerful doorway if you aren’t. It is an invitation to explore areas reachable only through the calmest sea of the self; it is a journey in both sound and silence, in the interval between the inhale and exhale, in the place where light and shadow meet.

What is it and how does it work?

As said before, Sound Meditation is a mixture of ancient Himalayan knowledge of sound and of modern science, more precisely the recent understanding of brainwave entrainment (“brainwaves” are the speed of neuronal connection in the brain, calculated in hertz). The session is simple: you lay, relax, close your eyes and let the sound of the bowl slowly drive you where you have to go.
Here, bowls are played softly with some very slight gaps of frequencies. This is what drives the brain to naturally generate a third frequency–a binaural tone– that shifts consciousness into a deeper, calmer, softer level.
Neurologically, binaural frequencies help the brain shift from a high-alert state (Beta, Gamma waves) into a slower, more restorative state (Alpha, Theta, Delta waves). This shift supports the parasympathetic nervous system, reduces stress hormones, improves sleep cycles, and allows the body to enter a state of natural repair.

On a more subtle level, Sound Meditation creates a doorway to an inner landscape often forgotten in daily life.Due to our hyper productive society and the speed of the information we receive today, we’ve become used to running our lives at a hectic rhythm far away from our natural state of being. We’ve been highly stimulated, rewarded for our exhaustion, and encouraged to always do more, faster, again and again. We’ve been functioning on alert mode for so long that we’ve mistook it for our natural flow.Yet, with Sound Meditation, enhanced by binaural frequencies, each session is a return to an inner landscape often forgotten in daily life: spacious, calm, connected. The vibrational field opens a space where buried emotions are finally seen, where intuition is heard, where the traumas are softened and the self is explored. This form of Sound meditation is a tool to get back to harmony with yourself and everything that is. You get to re-discover your authentic self and re-tune your system to its original frequency. The bowls create a subtle landscape where sound becomes space and space becomes presence. The mind gently detaches from its usual patterns, the thoughts quiet down, and the breath becomes soft. The body’s inner rhythm synchronizes with the frequency sculpted by the bowls.

About Me

I am Swali, Sound Facilitator, Yoga Instructor, Chef, Artist, Good-vibes Provider, and Life Enjoyer.I was born in Bretagne, the western part of France, where the elements gather wildly to form a land of expression, of creation; where the folklore talks about fairies and goblins, about the spirit of the rivers, of the woods, of the hills and of the ocean.Being raised into this magic, while also receiving ancient wisdom from Hindu culture gifted by my mother as bedtime story and rhythm from Africa as a legacy from my father, I couldn't find a way to exist in France that fulfilled my needs. My curiosity and thirst for knowledge and adventure drove me to leave France quite young. As my feet always brought me further– from dunes to jungle and from shoars to summits– the only thing that remained permanent was my passion for music and my curiosity for the subtle… for what the eyes can't perceive, the magic that surrounds us, the magic that has been forgotten by our modern society. After a few back-and-forth’s to India, I naturally ended up in Nepal and started practicing Yoga there, helping me create a discipline for the body and the mind. There, in the Himalayas, I learned Sound Healing. I heard about it before, as everybody in the New Age culture did. I heard about some bowls and gongs, some rainsticks and crystal harps. But in Nepal, for the first time, I could experience what a real Sound Healing was, as practiced in the highest mountains of the world for centuries. I could feel the power of the vibrations provided by this fascinating old art, and I directly fell in love with this world that I was unknowingly craving for.I returned to Europe in early 2025 with new tools to offer to the world: new practices, new ways to go deeper and further, to explore new states of consciousness, to feel the body and the mind, in order to extend their capacities beyond our limitations. It is on this sake that I currently offer some sessions in Portugal, all while going deeper into music and movement through different modalities.
The rest of the story is still to write… here are only a few elements to let you know what led me to propose Sound Healings.
There’s way more to share about me, about life, about visions and projects. We’ll have time for tea, I guess?
